Digital fire station with fully equipped command center in the ELW

A municipal fire brigade upgraded the fire station's IT infrastructure and modernized the network, PC workstations and server systems. At the same time, the classic telephone system was replaced by a VoIP-based system. The proven SMB 360° BEUL solution was used as the basic design and customized according to the customer's specifications.

In order to increase the ability to act and provide information while firefighting on site, the Einsatzleitwagen (ELW), a mobile command center, was also digitally upgraded: The vehicle was equipped with WiFi and LTE, depending on the location via WiFi directly (within the station) or via mobile communications (in the field) to be connected to the central server systems. Switching between the operating modes takes place automatically.

The hardened systems on board the ELW allow VoIP telephony, data transmission via a secure tunnel from the fire brigade information systems, access to digital plans and much more. The information is accessed wirelessly on tablets at the site and is available on the go.

BEUL carried out the entire project for the customer and supported them permanently with booked managed services. In cooperation with a vehicle manufacturer, a compact and robust IT solution was designed for the command vehicle, which brings digitization to the scene of an emergency and thus contributes to protecting the emergency services and those affected.
